Since 2004, she is Full Professor of Philosophy of law; Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the King’s College London (2013); Visiting Scholar at Boston College (2015); 2002-2006: she was member of the Italian National Bioethics Committee; 2007-2018, Vice-Chair; 2018-2023 Deputy Vice-Chair of the Italian National Bioethics Committee at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers; 2010-2023, member of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies; 2013-2025, Italy’s official delegate to the Steering Committee of Human Rights in the field of Biomedicine and Health, Council of Europe; 2016-2023, member of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee; 2022-2025, member of the National Ethics Committee for pediatric pharmacological trials, at Italian Agency for Pharmaceuticals (AIFA);since 2023, member of the Commission of Ethics in Research and Integrity of Research, National Research Council of Italy; since 2023: member of the Ethics Commission for Integrity in Research, La Sapienza University; corresponding member (since 2008); ordinary member (since 2021); member of the Steering Committee (since 2022) of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Since 2002: member of the Ethics Committee and currently Vice-Chair of the Ethics Committee for the assessment of clinical trials protocols, as well as member of the Ethics Committee for clinical cases of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital of Rome; 2016-2025, Vice-Chair of the clinical ethics Committee at the "Meyer" Children's Hospital in Florence. Since 2026, member of the Group on AI and Medicine, Italian National Institute of Health. Since 2022: Associate member of EURECNET, European Network of Research Ethics Committees;  Since 2017, Ethical Evaluator of Horizon 2020 research projects, funded by the European Commission; 2017-2021: Coordinator of LUMSA research unit within "I-Consent, Improving the guidelines for informed consent, including vulnerable populations, under a gender perspective", within the European research programme "Science With and For Society", Horizon 2020; Responsible of WP ELSI (Ethical, Legal and Social Issues) 1 + million Genomes project – European Project.
